Professional Learning Pathway
You leave our coaching program not only with a phenomenal toolkit of resources and strategies, but also you exit as a Google Certified Coach!
Every coaching program thinks itself special.
Ours really is one of the few out there with a direct connection to the Google Certified Coaching Certificate. We know a great coach is a coach with a huge network, let us help you build it!
The Shifting Schools Coaching Program is a 9 month professional learning opportunity for instructional coaches or educators who want to move into a coaching role.
We will ground our work with the Google for Education Certified Coach program which is designed for individuals in a coaching role, who work 1:1 with teachers to tackle classroom challenges with technology-based strategies. However, we will work with individual coaches to personalize the coaching model for their context.
Program Goals
Coaches will strengthen their coaching toolkit with strategies and ideas from the Google for Education Certified Coach curriculum.
Coaches will use the Google for Education research-based, 5-step coaching model to help educators solve challenges and meet instructional goals.
Coaches will use instructional coaching as an avenue for helping schools achieve their goals.

Program Components
You’ll meet with your small cohort of 10 coaches once a month. These cohort meetings have been designed to build on the Certified Coach curriculum and will be led by your mentor. You’ll want to attend these virtual trainings when they happen, although they will be recorded so you can watch later.
You’ll meet with all coaches in all cohorts once a month for a coach roundtable discussion. These discussions are designed to allow you to collaborate and problem-solve with each other and your mentor.
We will use the Google for Education Certified Coach curriculum as the basis for our work. Your mentor will guide you through the curriculum and support you with asynchronous discussions as well as extra training during the small cohort meetings.
You’ll be part of a coach community in Slack where you can collaborate, share resources, ask questions, and get support. We’ll also join the wider coach community on Twitter with #shiftingschools and #GoogleEC.

FAQs
How much time will I need to dedicate to the program?"
Aside from the 18 hours of synchronous sessions over the 9 months, you’ll need to spend approximately 15 to 20 hours completing the curriculum and participating in the Slack discussions. If you’re not already coaching as part of your job, you’ll want to schedule time to practice and use the coaching strategies presented while coaching a fellow educator.
What are the prerequisites for obtaining coach certification?
You will need to have achieved your Google Certified Level 1 & 2 certifications before submitting your final Certified Coach application.
* As noted above, coaches will receive full support for completing the curriculum, taking the skills assessment, and creating a coaching portfolio. Coaches have the option to add-on support for obtaining their L1 and L2 Google Educator certificates.
Can I purchase for multiple teachers using a purchase order?
Yes! Please contact us at info[at]shiftingschools.com and we can organize that for you or your school. For groups larger than 10, please contact us (info[at]shiftingschools.com) for the group rate.
Does it matter if I don’t do any coaching?

Can I purchase support/mentor hours (add-ons) after the coaching program begins?
Yes! You can purchase any number of support hours at any time - they will be available to purchase at the same time you purchase the coaching program begins and/or at any time during the coaching program.
